HUWAG MAGING DAYUHAN SA SARILING BAYAN

I’ve always believed in the saying: "Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan", which is why I made it a point to see the different parts of the Philippines whenever I had the chance. Even if I love going abroad to experience new cities and cultures, I take pride in the fact that our various islands are also great destinations to visit-- with its pristine beaches, amazing marine life, scenic views, historical landmarks, hospitable people, and bustling nightlife.

This love for my country eventually led to the establishment of MY LOCALITE, which aims to: bring the world to the Philippines, one small group at a time, through personalized tours. While foreigners would naturally be the primary target market of this business, it brings me so much joy & satisfaction when I have fellow Filipinos as guests who also want to sightsee here. Local tourist spots are usually taken for granted by its residents. So when I am given the chance to show them around, I make use of this opportunity to teach Pinoys more about our colorful past, getting them to appreciate our rich culture & gain a better understanding of our psyche. Sometimes, we really need to look back at the pages of history in order to move forward in re-building our nation together!

If it is one thing that we freedom-loving Filipinos have learned over the centuries, it’s that we have the power to determine our own fate. Despite the constant invaders & oppressors-- from the Spanish colonization to the American Rule & Japanese Occupation, compounded by internal political conflicts-- we have proven that it is ultimately in our hands to band together to propel our country towards greater heights.

We will therefore need to make a conscious effort to shift our pre-programed colonial mentality to loving our own. We should patronize our home-grown products and local industries, while constantly discovering the interesting places that this land has to offer. After all, it truly is MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES! And as we learn from our past pains & successes, may our war memorials & relevant monuments serve as constant reminders that what lies in the heart of every Filipino is a deep sense of nationalism that no one can ever take away.
